About the Society for Free Radical Research (Australasia)
The Australasian Branch of the Society for Free Radical Research,
SFRR (Australasia), was formed in 1988 and has about 100 active
members.
The main activity of SFRR (Australasia) is conducting scientific meetings.
The first meeting was held in 1988 in Adelaide and subsequent meetings were
held in Sydney (1989), Lorne (1991), Christchurch (1993), Wollongong (1995),
Dunedin (1997), Melbourne (1998), Sydney (1999), Wellington (2000), Sydney
(2001), Wollongong (2002), Kyoto (2003), Christchurch (2004) and Gold Coast
(2005). The next meeting of the Society will be held December 1-4 2006 in
Perth. The Society also provides grants-in-aid to support students to attend
the biennial meeting of the International Society for Free Radical Research.
In 1999 the Society adopted Redox Report as its official journal.
This entitles members to a reduced subscription rate. A number of
other joint activities between the journal and the Society are planned.
The journal has several active members of the Society on its Editorial
Board, including John Eaton and Nick Hunt (Chief Editors), Mike Davies,
Roger Dean, Tony Kettle, Roland Stocker, and Christine Winterbourn.
Membership of the Society also automatically brings membership of
the International Society for Free Radical Research, an umbrella
organisation that organises biennial scientific meetings; the 1994
meeting was held in Sydney and organised by the Sydney Free Radical
Group. Two representatives of SFRR (Australasia) (presently Kevin
Croft and Mike Davies) serve on the International Committee that controls
SFRR (International).
If you are interested in joining the Society, please contact the
Treasurer, David Pattison, or download the membership form available
